Benefits of Affiliated Membership

IFFS is an international democratic body whose first objective is to create links among countries, peoples, cultures, etc. in the field of Human Reproduction. This aims at stimulating the quality of care and the spreading of knowledge and awareness in the field. IFFS organises World Congresses, workshops and issues Consensus papers and official statements in order to help national societies in their specific objectives.

For national societies, being members of IFFS means that :

1. They can participate in the Federation's General Assemblies held during the triennial World Congresses with voting power in relation with their membership.

2. They can participate in the governance of the IFFS. They have the opportunity to take part in the election of :

  • the members of the Nominating and Financial Audit Committees,
  • the officers and the members of the Executive and Scientific Committees.

3. They can bid to host the World Congress that takes place once every three years and gathers more than 3000 participants.

4. They receive information on all IFFS activities.

5. They have a special page on the IFFS web site in order to bring to their members and to the public the information they wish.

6. Their representatives can participate in the activities of the Editorial and Training Committees such as :

a. the development of Consensus papers which have included :

  • Assisted Procreation
  • Tubal Infertility
  • Combination Oral Contraceptives and Cardiovascular Diseases
  • Surveillance of world-wide regulations on Assisted Procreation

b. travelling Task Forces participating in educational symposia and post-graduate courses.

7. Their representatives can participate in the Industry Committee assigned to assist the Congress Organising Committee in identifying potential sponsors and obtaining financial support from the Industry.

8. Depending on each local situation, member societies can gain official accreditation in their own country in view of their international affiliation to IFFS.

9. On occasions, IFFS may give special credits and awards to distinguished members of their societies. This contributes to international recognition and diffusion of their works.

10. During the World Congresses, member societies can organise specific courses and sessions in their native language.

11. Finally, they have a voice in this influential International Federation of Societies with increasingly important educational and charitable activities, a Federation that has the respect of the national fertility societies in 55 member countries.
